History
The Ark first offered services to the residents of South Cheatham County in the summer of 2001. A building owned by Kingston Springs United Methodist Church was renovated by volunteers, and through donations from churches and individuals in the community. This building at 335 Oak Street houses the offices and the food pantry of the Ark, as well as AA meetings.

The Ark incorporated as a separate nonprofit entity officially called The Ark Community Resource and Assistance Center, Inc, in July 2002, and received official IRS nonprofit status in April of 2003.

In January of 2004, the Ark was awarded a grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to assist with implementing a national program called Faith in Action. Lori Clayton was hired as the director of the Faith in Action though the Ark program, and as the first director of the Ark. In mid 2005, Lori resigned as Executive Director, and Missy Bolt was hired as the new Executive Director.
